CiViK is a community organization of dedicated citizens, committed to advocating for the present and future vitality and quality of life in Kirkland.

 

Citizens for a Vibrant Kirkland (CiViK) was first organized in 2004 by citizens and merchants who joined together out of concern regarding the Lake & Central proposal. Its citizen participants are from various neighborhoods of Kirkland.

 

In 2005, CiViK co-sponsored a City Council Candidates' Forum, along with the Kirkland Alliance of Neighborhoods, which was held at the Kirkland Performance Center.

 

We accomplish this by:

· Supporting open communication between citizens, city staff and elected officials

· Championing transparency in government

· Expanding awareness by promoting public access to information

· Encouraging broad-based citizen input

· Maintaining and enhancing that which is uniquely Kirkland

 

A Steering Committee, consisting of dozens of Kirkland citizens, has been formed within the auspices of CiViK, to provide the volunteer energy to address the many tasks related to the appeal effort. This is an amazing and tireless group of caring and devoted citizens who are concerned about the future of downtown Kirkland! And there are scores of citizens who have engaged as part of the information network and as donors.
